“The Soloist” I look forward to watching this true story on the big screen. It is a topic that has not garnered a lot of conversation in the African American community. I can only say that from a African American women perspective based on my experience with the subject. Schizophrenia is a serious disease. I am sure that it has effected a love one, family member and friend if we were to dig deep within our own circles. No one really wants to discuss it, perhaps this movie will bring the topic to the forefront of our mind to raise awareness.
Journalist Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) discovers Nathaniel Anthony Ayers (Jamie Foxx), a former classical music prodigy, playing his violin on the streets of L.A. As Lopez endeavors to help the homeless man find his way back, a unique friendship is formed, one that transforms both their lives.
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Catherine Keener, Tom Hollander, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Jamie Foxx

Another movie that truly goes indept about Schizophrenia is “A Beautiful Mind”
Before I seen this movie I did not have a clue about Schizophrenia, this movie was an eye opener. I can watch it over and over again. Now if I am confront with a relative that everyone may think is a nutcase their is a likely possibility that the individual suffers from a mental illness. A Beautiful Mind is also based on a true story.
