Images have been posted via twitter and around cyberspace in lightning speed. These are some of the most graphic and horrific images of Haiti of people who have been injured and killed by the earthquake. Please donate because your $5 or more can help the people rebuild quickly. Red Cross: Up to 3 million in need after Haitian quake; nations, aid groups rush in relief. Haiti appeals for your help with donations.

I watched with disbelief at the Katrina devastation as it shook the United States. Now I am watching and listening in disbelief about the earthquake that shakes and destroys Haiti. Literally bringing the poor country to its knees. I am stunned by these digital photographic images. Haiti’s Most Famous Son Calls for Help! Wyclef, 37, was made a roving ambassador for Haiti in 2007 and provides humanitarian aid and assistance through his Yele Haiti foundation.

Nick Zantop, a blogger, photographer and globetrotter who says she grew up in the Caribbean, has pulled together a comprehensive list of possibilities on Facebook and her blog, ItsJustLight.com.

Secretary Clinton said earlier, the U.S. government will offer assistance to Haiti and others in the region in the form of civilian and military disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.

We are not immune from this type of devastation, it can happen anywhere. There is always a possibility that this could happen to anyone of us and our families. When the world is grappled with this type of devastation, we all have a community responsibility to push aside our prejudices, judgmental views, political and religion views to assist wherever help is needed. It can in the form of a food drive, collection of legitimate donations to give to organizations, consoling our American Haitians who have families in the country, participating and volunteering to Red Cross and the many legitimate organizations that have come forward to help our Haitian brothers and sisters. I awoke this morning realizing that my troubles nor my problems are that big when comparing it to others who have had and suffer major devastation such as Katrina and Haiti and many other countries to deal with after the smoke clears.

List of legitimate Organizations to donate your donations and perhaps volunteer your time. Beware of fake organizations seeking donations that can’t prove their legal 501(c)(3) status. Personally I would only donate to reputable organizations that your already aware of or trusted individuals who have good intentions when submitting any type of donations. :

The U.S. State Department Operations Center said Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti should call 1-888-407-4747. Due to heavy volume, some callers may receive a recording. “Our embassy is still in the early stages of contacting American citizens through our Warden Network,” the U.S. State Department said in a statement. “Communications are very difficult within Haiti at this time.”
