World Cup US Team Blog Spotlight | World Cup South Africa

(Credit: AP) President Obama met with the U.S. men’s World Cup soccer team to send them off to South Africa in style.

“Everybody’s going to be rooting for you” he said.

FIFA to get the scoop about the World Cup Africa 2010 which takes place every four years. Since the first cup in 1930, only four western European and three Latin American countries have won it all. Three national teams have combined to win 12 of the 18 World Cups, Brazil five times, Italy four times and Germany three times.

Vice President Biden will be attending the World Cup games in place of Mr. Obama. Biden joked it was “a tough assignment” but that he’s happy to go.
