Presets

In my email my August eNews from onOneExchange discusses the new presets on their website. I am happy to share that they allow you to download presets to use to perfect your digital images. They have some pretty good presets too! I personally love to use Phototools which is a filter that I use within my Adobe Photoshop CS3. You can use the presets with Lightroom which is another fabulous program for you superstar photographers. You can go directly to their website and download presets and enjoy them like I do with my digital images. Check them out at OnOne This is an example of what you can get from onOneExchange website. Go to their website to view a list of presets available for download. Of course while you are there you should check out their blog.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

The month of October is fast approaching and it is “Infant Loss Awareness Month”. I encourage you all to donate to a worthy cause to an organization named “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep”. They are always looking for volunteer photographers nationwide. I learned about this organization while attending an Ed Pierce seminar called “Captivate the light” who was on tour to 68 cities.  The message below is from their website.:

With the Month of October being recognized as “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month”, The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation holds its Annual Fund Drive for six weeks starting in mid-September and ending in October.  It is our hope that those in a place to make even a small contribution to NILMDTS will consider doing so allowing the organization to provide adequate resources, training, communication and tools necessary in support our amazing contingent of professional photographers who provide the gift of free remembrance portraiture to families in need.

ScribeFire For Your Blog

I just added ScribeFire from within Mozilla Firefox to my WordPress blog which will allow me to remotely add content from my computer without logging into my WordPress account. You can post content to your WordPress blog without leaving the Mozilla Firefox browser. It is easy to setup to use with my WordPress blog. Just download the add-on from within Mozilla Firefox after you have make sure your up to date with the current version of Mozilla Firefox. Your blog can become monetized based on ScribeFire website at www.scribefire.com by adding Quick ads to your blog. I am very impress with the functionality of this editor, it is user friendly and it will allow you to do basically everything that you can do within your WordPress blog interface. According to ScribeFire it will not interfere with your Google Adsense ads either. You can insert images, youtube videos, images and whatever else comes to mind. It will ping and update Technorati. Not bad at all. There are a few things I am learning but in the meantime I am overjoyed with finding this handy tool for my blogging experience. It compliments WordPress nicely but you may still want to check to make sure things are being updated within your WordPress blog periodically and to manage your plug-ins.

Rangefinder Magazine

I went to my mailbox today and my free September issue of Rangefinder magazine was in the mail. Yay for me! “The Land of Light” issue is my date tonight. My husband and son are at a local football game and boy am I glad. My son aspires to be a Pro football player and my husband is his biggest cheerleader. Me on the hand have to see the ink signed on the dotted line with promises of at least a scholarship or perhaps sponsorship in the summer for football camp while he is on summer break. Don’t get me wrong, I am overjoyed that my teenager boy can play football but I believe academics and whoever tells him he is good; show me the money honey! My thing is to remain humble and keep your head in the books. Enough of my rambling back to my Rangefinder magazine moment that I will be enjoying tonight page by page. I plan on sitting in my jacuzzi and reading my Rangefinder magazine while I sip on a glass of Freixenet Brut Cava sparkling wine. Oh, life is good and I have no complaints. I’ll reach out to you all on Monday. I hope I get out of the tub! Get your free subscription at http://www.rangefindermag.com/subscribe/ you will be glad you did. Every inspiring photographer should have a subscription to Rangefinder. Enjoy! Don’t say I never gave you anything…enjoy your weekend!

Upgrade Plugin

When I initially started to put together my website with WordPress I thought it would be an extremely difficult process. I contacted my host at www.hostgator.com to find an solution and was told that I needed to FTP everything through my file manager and go to http://www.cpanel.net/index.html to learn how to use it. Hostgator is an excellent host and I have no complaints nothing but love for the company because they always answer the phone 24/7. Their packages are bad either and they grow with your website. Enough gushing about hostgator, well I was told that I could simplify the uploads of plugins by using http://filezilla-project.org/ which is free and very user friendly to endusers like me. My knowledge of html, scripting and uploading was a bit dusty. I was literally taking baby steps to get my WordPress scripts loaded for my website. Now you can’t tell me nothing, somehow all that information system information that lied dormant in my left brain begin to stir and come alive. The flow was amazing, I know this stuff as I begin to upload WordPress Plugins and themes through filezilla to my hostgator account. For about two weeks I kept changing my themes because the selection was huge. I couldn’t make up my mine and I knew that I need to select a theme. I did not have to use my cpanel to upload anything once I installed the filezilla program to my computer. Of course through trial and error I became familiar with the FTP process.  Now I am blogging baby! There is an WordPress plugin everyone should have and it is my favorite. It alerts you to newer versions of your plugins and WordPress versions. If you don’t have

InstantUpgrade 1.0-beta2 Upgrade your WordPress installation with one simple click via the InstantUpgrade panel. Attention: This is a BETA release; if you don’t know what that means, you shouldn’t be using this software. By Alex Günsche.

you are making yourself work to hard to run your site. This upgrade plugin is the best even though it is still in the beta stage. Everytime I log into my WordPress account it alerts me to any upgrade that I am in need of for my WordPress website.  All I have to do is hit the upgrade button, it is done for you. No knowledge of html or programming language needed.

Google Adsense for my blog

I am beginning to blog on my WordPress website. I selected my theme and the layout is satisfactory for now until I have time to make my own website using Adobe Fireworks. The next step is to monetize my blog with Google Adsense. It was relatively easy to setup an account with Google Adsense. I submitted my application with all of the pertinent information such as my name, website and whatever else Google asked me for at the time I submit my application. Please note that the application process worked better for me through my Internet Explorer browser than my Mozilla Firefox browser. The first time I submitted my application I did not hear anything from Google Adsense and resubmitted it through Explorer. That’s when I realize my application had not totally process through the application process. I waited at least 2-3 business days for my account to be approved, than I received an email stating that I was approved. I am overjoyed and was elated at receiving my email. Now comes the tricky part. Read the fine print and make sure you don’t click on your own ads. Big no no, that will get your account banned and locked down. At least that’s the way I read it. Than the fun stuff is inserting code for relevant ad and links to show up on your website. I have a few Google Adsense ads popping up all over my website. I love it! I am still learning how to put the code on the page through the WordPress theme editor along with some help from a few WordPress plugins. Google adsense have excellent tutorials that helped me get the html insert into my source code or at least learn about what it actually looked like on a page. Tomorrow I maybe a little more risky and try to insert another google search box somewhere on my website along with a youtube video.

I have heard and read positive things about Google Adsense; and it program guidelines. There are a few books on the market that make an excellent reference guide while your tinkering around with the code on your site. I purchase mine from Borders. I suggest picking up a copy of “Google Adsense for Dummies” and “Search Engine Optimization for Dummies” to get your mind in the right frame of mind when tinkering around on your website. I have yet to read mine from page to page but by the end of this month I plan on mastering the material. Reread and reread Google’s Adsense policy over and over to make sure you don’t break any of the rules accidently because once your ban that’s the end of the relationship with Google Adsense for your website. At least that the way I read it and that’s the understanding I took away from all of that fine print letting you know what not to do. Oh yeah, no tricks will be tolerated either like invalid clicks from your mother, auntie sue, brother and friends who try to get your clicks to report over the top numbers. I heard through the grapevine that they are not dummies. Don’t try it because it will get you kicked out faster than you can blink. Pssst that’s only what I heard and read on their website. After digesting all the rules and the policy to become an Google Adsense member, I felt up to the challenge. I can follow the rules and make some money for a new pair of shoes or a new tube of Mac lipstick! I am now happy to be putting my own personal ID number that Google Adsense issues only to you and not anyone else; be careful with some of the themes and so call optimization sites that tell you that all you have to do it is use thier stuff and your set. Your own code must be issued by Google adsense in order for you to see any revenue. Armed with my ID and a weird cheswick smile I gleefully tell my husband I am a Google Adsense member. Check out my website ya’all! I got images and links!

You been warned not to try any slick and underhanded behavior with Google Adsense. Have a wonderful and ethical relationship and perhaps we may cross paths down the road to success.

Diamonds are a girls best friend

I have to wonder how many celebrities or ordinary folks are wearing bling are buying their simulated diamonds from https://www.diamondnexuslabs.com/ these days. There have been a few thefts on the blogs about the theft of celebrities chains being ripped off of their necks and their home. It makes me wonder just how real those diamonds truly are because there was not a lot of fanfare about the loss. That is why one should purchase simulated diamonds, economically it make realistic sense and keeps more money in your pocket or wallet.  I ordered a few pair of earrings from them to check out the product. I am very impressed with their earrings and their extensive jewelry line. I ordered the Leto and round 3 carats diamond earrings, which are too big but they are beautiful. They are  brilliant and shine like stars. www.diamondnexuslabs.com is a company to buy your bling from without the astronomical price tags associate with buying  real diamonds. The customer service is impeccable and outstanding. I have no complaints and may order from them in the future. The simulated diamond are not conflict diamonds meaning no person lost limb or life mining these simulated gems. Grooms short on cash may want to consider purchasing their future brides diamond rings from diamondnexuslabs, they are beautiful and look like the real deal. For women who want the bling without the price tag this is the gem to purchase, plus they send your jewelry in beautiful packaging along with a couple of pieces of Godiva chocolate. I love that no one one was injured, harm or lost a life over these ethical diamonds. It has been allege that diamondnexuslabs diamonds will cut glass they are harder than most substances except for diamonds. Another great feature is that your diamond has an “100% Triple Life Guarantee,” you can’t get that from any retailer. Check out some of their articles on their website, that what’s convince me to order a pair or two for myself.
