Jesse Jackson Runaway Slave Conversation about LeBron James

Sign me up for some of that slavery money because the last time I recall. Slaves were not paid the wages athletes are being paid today. Where is Jesse Jackson going with this slavery conversation? I get that Gilbert is feeling pissy about Lebron signing elsewhere but where does Jesse Jackson fit into the scheme of this story? Lebron James already told folks he is not losing any sleep over the letter by his former slave owner coach irate comments.  Is this modern day slavery but with a serious bankroll attached to it? Please let me know where I can go and sign up for that slavery job. ASAP! If this is the image of slavery than a whole lot of folks would sign up right along with me regardless of their skin color. I am just saying this conversation about slavery has been going on for a long time. If anything, it is Jesse Jackson with the slave mentality along with his posse of past advocates. I get he was present when Martin Luther King, Jr died and they have fought the good fight. Mad respect for their efforts to end the injustices happening to folks during the civil rights era and afterwards..Today we are fighting unemployment, a weak economy, an entire generation of lost youth, education cost and about now we all want change. Jesse Jackson should be on television giving us a solution for the issues that are occurring in the world today. What about a solution for BP….start with that conversation. I am sure the president would take all the information he has and implement it if he thought it would work to plug up the hole in the Gulf. I am over the slave conversation which is raised every-time one of our African American leaders want some face and press time. I remember several years ago when Jesse Jackson visited a church I was attending and he was raising money for the “Rainbow Coalition,” the act left a bad taste in my mouth because I could not figure out how it was suppose to help our local community? Remember this is the same cat who bashed our president and was caught on tape spewing some bullshit and than crying in the crowd when President Obama won the election. I can’t…jump or get into this conversation when athletes make more money than most folks will see in a lifetime.

Jesse Jackson criticized Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert on Sunday, saying Gilbert sees LeBron James as a “runaway slave” and that the owner’s comments after the free-agent forward decided to join the Miami Heat put the player in danger.

“He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers,” the reverend said in a release from his Chicago-based civil rights group, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. “His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship — between business partners — and LeBron honored his contract.”

In our small world of thinking and apparently in the big league the powers of be did not respond kindly to Gilbert outlandish letter toward Lebron. NBA owner Dan Gilbert was fined $100,000 on Monday by NBA Commissioner David Stern for comments he said were a little “extreme”

“The humbling offer by so many is another reflection of the strength of Cavs fans and the people who live and work in this region and are always the first to step up and have each other’s back.  I will pay this fine myself, but would be grateful and highly appreciative for any fan who redirects the dollars they kindly offered to contribute towards this fine to the Cavaliers Youth Fund, which will positively impact our region’s kids through the numerous local charitable groups the Cavaliers Youth Fund supports.”
