You don’t have to be a politician wife to understand what it means to stand by your man as he climbs the invisible ladder to success. Ask Maria Shriver how the last 25 years of her life was spent while being married to former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger? I am sure Shriver will happily tell anyone within ear distance the what, where and when she got tired of being the governor’s wife. A baby by the hire help was the push she needed to move out and move on from a marriage that can not be mended. Shriver has made her first public statement about the news regarding her estranged husband, telling People, “This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment.”

Excerpt from Newsweek article:

“Everything you do is criticized—your clothes are ugly; you’re not doing enough; your politics are questioned. It gets mean,” says Jenny Sanford, who endured 15 years of political wifedom while wed to South Carolina Republican congressman turned governor Mark “Appalachian Trail” Sanford. “I could not wait to get out of the job,” she says.“The demands are significant and they are endless.”
