May the can’t make me go to rehab, NO! NO! NO! British singer Amy Winehouse R.I.P. She passed away Saturday July 23, is the cover story for Vibe’s magazine annual “JUICE” issue. Fans were smitten with Winehouse sultry voice, big and messy beehive hair, smeared lipstick, dark penciled eyeliner and dingy ballerina slippers. She sort of reminded me of Billy Holiday persona but a white version. She was the jazzy singer who sung about the blues in a smokey back alley and dirty tavern, strung out on drugs with a glass of alcohol in one hand and a cigarette dangling from her fingertips. One would say she had a lot to sing about during those oppressive time. I wonder what was Winehouse dark inflictions about? Fans overlooked all of the messy behavior perhaps because Winehouse’s voice touch deep into the crevices of their own souls. The lyrics are that powerful.
As shocking as her death is to most folks…the troubled singer was chasing demons and openly lead an abusive drug and booze lifestyle. It never ends well for anyone who can’t shake drug addictions…..the drugs and alcohol always win in the end. Note, it is always troublesome when a young person dies before their parents. I use to hear the old folks say that when I was a child and the family lost a young soul. We never expect people to die young. The Vibe “Juice” issue hit newsstands August 16, 2011
One thing is for certain, Photoshop was definitely kind to this young lady, matter of fact it was her best friend. Winehouse looked her best in photographs but in reality she was no were near as polish as her pictures portray.
The cyberstreets are whispering that her x-husband, Blake wanted to attend but prison official’s denied is request to attend the funeral. Oh really now, giving that dude the side-eye.
Amy Winehouse does not have cry tears on her own…ole girl is going on that stairway to heaven.
