On June 16, 2012 at 5:00 my niece wed her beau of nine years at the National Press Club. What was served was Filet Mignon, Shrimp and Grits as the main course. I have never eaten Shrimp and Grits before that evening. As I delighted in the foodporn my palate savored every morsel of the well prepared dish.

Twice I have attempted to prepared the Shrimp and Grits dish in my own kitchen. The Skrimps above were boiled in water and drained. The scrimp are  meatier and tough.

Steamed Scrimp in an colander are tender, not as white and have an different texture. Nevertheless, very delicious to the palate.

Saute Brocolli, Green Peppers and Spring Peas in Olive Oil in less than five minutes. Season to taste with your favorite seasoning.

This is my second time preparing an Shrimp and Grits dinner. This time I prep the dish with Basil leaves and Saute veggies. Delicious. The next time may be Asparagus. Who knows but Shrimp and Grits is definitely on the menu for years to come.

For under twenty five dollars:

2 cups of Quaker Grits

Veggies you grown in your garden or purchased at the grocery store

Basil plant you grown or purchased at the grocery store

Tomatoes you grown or can of diced tomatoes

Jar of Alfredo sauce and seasoning from your cabinet

Takes less than 30 minutes to prepare in your own kitchen.
