People across the country are suffering from being unemployed. “Portraits From a Job-Starved City” by Alex Soth a Minneapolis photographer focus on employed individuals.
Featured on the New York Times Magazine‘s Jan. 23 issue. On assignment for the magazine, Soth went to Rockford, Illinois and photographed people in their work places to accompany a story about President Obama administration’s efforts to revive the economy with a new jobs policy. Each person illustrates their story underneath their portrait. Soth had one week to complete photographic quilt of a small American city, with more than 150,000 potential subjects.
