Yesterday while chilling in my home reading newspapers, channeling surfing and looking at coupons inserts. I came across a blip about next week in the “Washington Post Magazine” will be a article about an competitive bodybuilder in her 70s; author Naomi Wolf reflects on the 20th anniversary of “The Beauty Myth”; and four local area women tell how they age well.
I am looking forward to reading all about the dolls testimony as they spill the beans about aging gracefully without plastic surgery. First Lady Obama should have called Shepherd up on the telephone and ask her to do a fitness video for all the couch potato’s over the age of 35 years old. WE all could use some encouragement to move our behinds to exercise, encouragement to move our bodies and hear about Shepherd’s motivation that season women and men still have the ability to “MOVE THEIR BODIES”! It is not often you will witness nor view a women body in the tabloids, glossy magazines and blogs with an 70 year old African American woman with abs of steel that look like she could put any doll over the age of 21 years old to the task. I AM INSPIRE to move my body! Shepherd is one fierce one doll and she is in the Guinness book of world records.
Ernestine Shepherd began working out at the age of 56. She now runs 80 miles per week and can bench press 150 pounds. She was named in the Guinness World Records as the oldest female bodybuilder. Married for 53 years and grandmother to a 13-year-old.
