Champagne On A Beer Budget to Ring in the New Year

Not everyone will be able to spend the $300 price tag Armand de Brignac champagne that touch the lips of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Oprah, P. Diddy, the housewives and the celebrities that flaunt their stuff on tabloids magazines covers. My suggestion is to not even try to compare and squander your rent and mortgage money trying to keep up with the celebrities expensive taste. Note that celebrities are in an league of their own. Every year folks  traditionally consume champagne on New Year’s Eve to ring in the New Year. I personally love champagne but I can only speak about the bubbly sparkling wines I’ve consumed.

Dom Perignon – Prices for the average working class individual can set them back two weeks of groceries and if several bottles are purchased at a bar….the tab will set you back rent, car note or a mortgage payment.

Veuve Clicquo – I purchased a big bottle from my local liquor store two New Year’s eve ago for $126.00. Call me practical and bias but I should have purchased Freixenet. I wished after consuming the one bottle…of Veuve Clicquo. Justsaying if your serving champagne for more than two people, you will need to consider your budget. Veuve Clicquo is delicious but when you’re entertaining guest they will suck it down like water and then what….a dry spell will ensue….giggles!

Monet Chandon White Star – Delicious and reasonably priced for the average working individual willing to spend $50+ per bottle at your local liquor store.

Champagne Perrier-Jouet – I received a bottle of Perrier-Jouet as a wedding gift to consume on my wedding night. My palate did not like it but nevertheless I can say I tried it…priced over $100 at my local liquor store and during the holidays, packaged with two flower painted flute glasses.

Freixenet – has been a favorite sparkling wine aka champagne for at least the last twenty years. Priced reasonably at the local liquor store from $18.99 to $22.99. Taste wonderful chill, sweet and after a few glasses you will think you’re drinking any of the expensive bubbly champagnes on the market. Small bottles cost $10.99+…my suggestion is go for the bigger bottle, your guest will love you for it! When purchase by the case – 6 bottles your local liquor store should give you a 10% discount.

Elyssia Gran Cuvee and the Elyssia Pinot noir, Freixenet premium cavas as an economical alternative to champagne. Price varies and some liquor stores do not stock.

This New Year’s I will be 47 years young. Happy New Year cyberpeeps. Enjoy the celebration and remember you look soooo much better when you smile!
