Photo Opportunity or Helping The People In Haiti?

Al Sharpton
Image via Wikipedia

When Al Sharpton made the decision to go and help the people of Haiti, most people assumed it is an photo opportunity for the political activist. That could be the case but Al Sharpton is not alone in thinking that way and running to Haiti for the photo opportunity. There has been many faces showing up in Haiti getting their picture taken and shaking hands with the people in Haiti. These people don’t want a hand shake, they need water, shelter, medical supplies and food. I agree with Mayor Bloomberg but that message should be broadcast across networks for others to take note as well!

I am sure the people of Haiti are tire of the celebrities, politicians and anyone else looking for 5 minutes of recognition. Based on the media reports people have manage to get in for a handshake but the logistics of getting the much needed medical supplies, water and food on the island to the people who really need their basic needs address is an issue?

The good news for individuals who donated to the cause of Haiti.: The Senate unanimously passed legislation Thursday that will allow taxpayers to deduct cash donations to Haiti earthquake relief on their 2009 tax returns instead of having to wait to file the claims next year.
