Toys R Us are taking trade in on video games. Amazon.com will take video games and DVDs in exchange for an Amazon gift card. RadioShack or manufacturers such as HP might give up to $140 for an 8 GB iPhone 3G.

Electronic recycler Gazelle runs trade in programs for Amazon. There’s no limit on the number of items you can sell, and you get more money if you have the original accessories, such as a charger and software CD.
$300 million in economic stimulus money is earmarked for rebates on Energy Star appliances. Rebates are expected to range from $50 to $250. States will decide which appliance qualify and how much the rebate will be and you don’t have to carry in your old clunker.
