MaximumPC Magazine July 2009 is on the money with their advice this month. I tried the few suggestions and was pleasantly surprise at how fast my browser loaded.

Speed up and secure Firefox tip was a huge problem solver for lagging time when logging onto the Internet. Browse with OpenDNS which is a replacement for your computer or router. It is a phonebook for your Internet. ISP providers supply DNS to all their customers but we all know how that experience can be when the Internet is loaded with traffic. Go to your control panel and click view network status and tasks. Click the view view status button next to your local area network and select properties. Choose Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and go to its properties. Click the “Use the following DNS server addresses radio option and type following into the form: Preferred DNS Server: 208.67.222.222 Alternate DNS Server: 208.67.220.220 Click OK and close the connection properties window. Check out your changes at DNS correctly go to OpenDNS. If you see a welcome message then are using DNS and no further configuration is needed. Love what I see it is amazing and fast too! This wonderful suggestion is for Vista user but you can find other setup guides

Another great suggest was to install Finetune to access Firefox hidden preferences by basically treaking to make Firefox load faster, browse faster, download faster, ect. I downloaded the freeware version because what I needed to do was simple, however they do offer a paid version with loads of plugins. This will help those who don’t have all day trying to understand what the heck this is about:config tweak is suppose to do. Just unzip the Firetune ZIP file and double click the executable file. Follow the instructions but be sure to create a backup of configuration before proceeding. It does all the work for you, after that process is complete within about 5 minutes after downloading the file. Your set to enjoy a faster Firefox browsing experience.
